Jess won the chance to buy tickets to the Harry Potter Fan Festival, so instead of driving to the Virginia mountains for our annual no-kids weekend, we headed east to Indianapolis.
On Sunday, I dropped Jess off at the White River State Park to catch dragons, and drove south for a hike in Hoosier National Forest. Indiana is pretty flat, but there is a single fire tower remaining in the National Forest at Hickory Ridge, so I still managed to get a view.
I drove back to join Jess at the park for a few hours. Everybody was walking around looking at his or her phone, occasionally yelling "dragon!" and pointing. White River State Park is actually a beautiful riverside park in downtown Indianapolis.
The next day, Labor Day, we drove back home, with a brief stop along the way to visit some dear friends.
No road trip would be complete without fine dining, including street tacos, a bacon macaroni and cheese burger(!), WAFFLE HOUSE, and blueberry-stuffed pancakes (with blueberry butter).
