On this visit to Clear Creek State Park, we set up camp right away when we got there, because some thunderstorms were expected. We got the tents set up, a fire started, and hot dogs partially cooked before the first round came through! After hiding out in the tents for a while, the rain let up long enough for us to make s’mores.
Then the real storms set in, and we retreated to the tents. This was the first night the girls spent in a tent during a thunderstorm. They weren't happy about it, but they survived! The next two days were absolutely gorgeous.
It was not warm enough to swim, but we still headed for the little beach with our sand tools.
We played board games, climbed on rocks, swung on swings, went for walks, and slept in tents.
